August 16/17 2008 Four girls and two boys (Kirsty only lived a few days)
They were ready to go to their new homes Thanksgiving Weekend.
Minnie had a difficult delivery and without my vet Dr. Karla Huber spending her midnight hour getting puppy #2 turned around - she and the successive pups may not have survived, that is why puppy #2 is going to be called Karla in her honour.
Minnie - happy it is all over!
everyone's finally happy :-)
The milk is doing its trick - the pups plumped up in 24 hours!
Don't worry about the marks they are nailpolish for identification:
1 Kirsty - purple
2 Karla - blue
3 Kimberly - brown - will let go blank
4 Kathy - pink
5 Kirby - blue
6 Keith - blank
Kirsty newborn
This little girl was the only one born on the 16th. Sadly, many puppies do not make it past 48 hours - although Kirsty seemed lively and thriving she passed away on the morning of the 19th.
She was loved every day of her life. RIP little Kirsty
I have not seen this in any of my previous litters where the parents were about the same size. Minnie is quite petite and Brinkly is a traditional size guy. Two puppies from this litter are just huge compared to the other three. Keith and Kirby are pictured above. Out of the girls, Kimberly is much larger than the other two. Things may even out as the weeks go by, but it could be an early indication that Kimberly and Keith are going to take more after their father. All five pups are very wiggly and busy so in that sense they take after their mother. I hope a few of the puppies do get Brinkly's grin.
Kirby and Keith L-R are pictured above at three days old.
The pups enjoying their one week old birthday. As you can see the colour is coming in nicely on their noses and paw pads.
Also at one week old the size line up - as you can see two of the pups one the ends of the row are both much bigger than the other three, although they are catching up since the photo I took when they were four days old. :-)

At two weeks old some of the pups have started to open their eyes - by Wednesday they should all be able to see. They had their toenails trimmed today - that's 80 teeny-tiny toenails! This is one of the most rolly-polly litters I have had - I hope they will be able to walk :-)
They are all doing well and are so adorable. Not much will happen this week - they will continue to grow and their ears should open by three weeks. All of a sudden around three and a half weeks to four weeks they turn from little sausages into dogs!

This is a pictures of the pups dog tired after their dress up model experience with my daughter. They had also had a good playtime before the "shoot" so were already getting a little sleepy. They tested out their legs this week and went from dragging their bodies around to actually walking. Keith wagged his tail at me this week which seemed a little early. They will start getting a small amount of mushy food this week. I did their toenails again - I like to do them weekly to encourage the quick to stay down and get them used to the experience - terriers don't like to get their toenails trimmed.
The puppies at four weeks old – September 14, 2008
Sorry the photos are late today and that there is no group shot. Please see individual photos.
Keith and Kimberly are still the largest but they are not a petite litter by any means. All of the puppies are plump and lovely. They did indeed turn into “real” dogs this week from the eating of food to the wagging of itty bitty tails. It is so fun to sit on the floor and have them all rush over to greet you – every one of them is super friendly and wants to play and be held. Poor little Kirby is having a hard time with his little pink piggy nose – the other pups’ noses have turned mostly black already...but he still waits.
The pups are being fed a very mushy meal three times a day this week – by Wednesday they will be getting more food with a little more crunch to it. Their mother gets unlimited kibble but has two hard boiled eggs for breakfast, a half a can of dog food which we add calcium to at lunch and then the other half later in the day.
The pups are having a busy week. They all had their first bath on Monday. Eating, sleeping and playing lots!
The puppies at six weeks: They are growing in size and ability. This week they were put exclusively on dry kibble as they are looking for something to chew with their new little teeth – and my toes needed the break. I have been feeding this little the Costco brand of puppy food. They love to have their playtimes outside of their pen and do try to do their poops when out of the pen. They are a great bunch and I will be glad to seem them go to news homes as I am finding it too easy to want to keep them :-)
Puppies are worn out after their bath. Yes, Mr. Bunny was thown in the washing machine too!
If you are worried about the patchy pigmentation in Kirby's nose - I have every reason to think that the full black colouration will come in by three or four months. Pictured to the right is Effie - Kirby's half sister whose nose colour was just about as bad as Kirbys at three weeks old, and a picture of her at three months old showing full black colouration.

October 4th The puppies this week.
It was a tough week what with three baths, a micro-chip implant and a trip to the vet for shots but it ended on a happy note. Keith has been chosen by Gina to live in Airdrie, Kathy has been chosen by Bree to live in Sherwood Park and Kimberly by Pam & Shaun and boys to live in Grande Prairie.
The two pups that are still available are Kirby and Karla. I wouldn’t worry too much about Kirby's nose – it does look funny right now but his half sister Effie had a nose like this and it turned black by three months. He has a beautiful shaped head and a great coat.
This is how they weighed in at the vets:
1.2 kg Kathy
1.24 kg Karla
1.3 kg Kirby
1.5. kg Kimberly
1.6 kg Keith
Pick 1: Bree C. chose "Kathy" and called her Chloe
Pick 2: Pam & Shaun J. chose "Kimberly" and called her Fergie
Pick 3 Gina & Kerry C. chose "Keith" and called him Dirk a playmate for Cloe
Pick 4
Pick 5
This is Cloe - Dirk has gone to live with his half sister Cloe who was born in 2006
Sharon H. chose Karla
Brian & Jo-Ann C. chose "Kirby" and plan to call him Dudley.
