How to make an easy birthday cake for your dog.
All we do is use a can (or two or three – depending on how many friends will be sharing) of the more paste type dog food (non-chunky) and use a few breadcrumbs to soak up any excess moisture. Then you nominate someone in the family to shape this mix into a cake format with their hands directly on the platter you are going to serve it on – funnily enough – this is something kids like to do.
For the icing for the cake on the left we used day-old leftover mashed potatoes mixed with a little sour cream and/or cream cheese to get a good consistency and piped it around. The whole platter was placed in the deep freeze for about half an hour to facilitate easy slicing.
Decorate with whatever you have, colourful bones, cake sprinkles even sliced boiled eggs or carrots.
CARROTS – all our dogs love cooked carrots for treats – especially the puppies when their baby teeth are coming in - a nice cold cooked carrot out the fridge brought some relief.
